Free parking after 4pm returns to two Truro car parks
Friday April 10th 2026 to Friday May 1st 2026

Cornwall Council has re-introduced free parking after 4pm at two of Truro’s car parks - Edward Street, near Truro Crown Court and Moresk (Oakway), next to the Pydar development area.

The two car parks that are now free to park from 4pm daily are located at Edward Street (TR1 3AJ), which has 134 spaces, and Moresk, Oakway (TR1 1DW), which has 115 spaces.

The news is welcomed by Truro BID along with several Councillors at Truro City Council and the Town Clerk, all of whom have been campaigning for the return of free parking to support the late afternoon and evening economy.
In April 2023, Cornwall Council introduced charges after 4pm in Truro, causing a loss of free evening parking for the city.

Truro BID and Truro City Council have been meeting with Cornwall Council since November 2024 to raise concerns about parking capacity and cost. Truro BID also obtained support from over 125 businesses, via letters and emails, to request that free evening parking was reinstated.

Please note, this change applies only to Edward Street and Moresk, and there will continue to be a charge for all the other Cornwall Council car parks in Truro.

On 10th April, Cornwall Council said:

We've emailed or written to 2,100 eligible households so make sure you check your post and inbox".

Riverside Walk Closure for Tree Removal at Boscawen Park
Monday April 20th 2026 to Monday April 27th 2026 at the Boscawen Park

Next week, essential tree removal works will be taking place at Boscawen Park, as part of Truro City Council's ongoing clean up efforts following Storm Goretti in January. To ensure public safety while these works are carried out, the Riverside Walk will be temporarily closed for one week from Monday 20th April to Monday 27th April, when it is expected to reopen.

The contracted work will involve the removal of two trees that fell into the river during the storm:
- ‎A eucalyptus tree located by the Sunny Corner end of the Riverside Walk.
- ‎A macrocarpa tree located by the Truro Tide Gates end of the Riverside Walk.

We understand this area is popular for dog walking, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We encourage dog owners to find an alternative route while the works are carried out.

As a result of the tree removal, the previously scheduled resurfacing of the Riverside Walk has been postponed. A further update on the resurfacing works will be provided once new dates are confirmed.

Truro City Council would like to thank residents and visitors to the park for their patience and understanding while these essential works are completed.
